The History of Education in the Village of Ash next Ridley, Kent. (1735-1950)

In 1938 the Managers reappoint Miss Bowler on a temporary basis, but the K.E.C. do not accept this reappointment, and Miss Weth is appointed in 1939. 1939 is the start of the Second World War and Ash becomes a receiving area for some of the evacuated London children. They arrive from Haimo Road School, Eltham, with three of their teachers – Miss Jones, Miss Pemberton and Miss Leonard. It is not long before they become dissatisfied and on

December 4th they complain that they are ‘unhappy’.
For some years the Managers have been receiving complaints against Miss. Wright. To start with they were virtually ignored, but this attitude changes and this complaint from the London teachers is probably the final one, for Miss Wright was dismissed in the following year.
