Abstract of the will of William Mace of Chelsfield
yeoman dated 2 August 1590.
To be buried in Chelsfield churchyard. To the poor of the
parish 3s.4d.
To every of my wives [sic] children unmarried being 7 in
number £4 apiece.
To Nicholas Naylor and Mathewe [sic] one couple of mother
sheep each.
To Harry Lambe one mother sheep.
To my daughter Elizabeth 40s. or a cow, which she will.
To my son William £10 and a cow and 8 sheep.
To my daughter Agnes Lamme one cow and 8 mother sheep.
To my wife all the stuff in the chamber I lie in " and
in the next to it and all other in stuff which she brought with
her."
To my sons Thomas and William the debts which Mr. Salter
oweth me.
I appoint Johane my wife and Thomas my son as my Executors.
Witnesses George Smythe parson of Chelsfield, Humphrey
Donatt.
Proved 31 August 1590 by Johane Mace the relict and Thomas Mace the son.
