IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN I LAYTON ROPER
of Brompton in the County of Kent Shipwright being of sound Mind Memory
and Understanding but considering the certainty of death and the
uncertainty of the times thereof do make publish and declare this my
last Will and Testament in Writing in manner and form following that is
to say I will that all my Just Debts and Funeral Charges be paid and
satisfied Item I give devise and
bequeath unto my dear Sister ELIZABETH ROPER now living
with me All that my freehold Messuage or Tenement and premises with the
Appurtenances situate standing and being in Prospect Row in Brompton
aforesaid now in my own Occupation To hold to her my said Sister her
Heirs and Assigns for ever I give to
my Nephew RICHARD HOPPER of Brompton aforesaid Shipwright
All my Wearing Apparel both Linen and Woollen All
the Rest Residue and Remainder of my Estate and Effects whatsoever and
wheresoever and of what nature or Kind soever as well Real and Personal
I give devise and bequeath the same unto my said dear Sister ELIZABETH
ROPER her Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns for ever And
I do hereby make nominate constitute and appoint my said Sister ELIZABETH
ROPER Sole Executrix of this my Will And
I do hereby revoke all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made
and declare this only to stand and be as and for my last Will and
Testament In Witness whereof I the
said LAYTON ROPER have to this my last Will and Testament set my Hand
and Seal this twenty second day of April one thousand seven hundred and
seventy nine LAYT. ROPER Signed Sealed
published and declared by the abovenamed LAYTON ROPER the
Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of Us
who have hereunto subscribed Our Names as Witnesses thereto in the
presence of the said Testator and in the presence of each other THOMAS
SOAMES EDWD LEEDS MARY

AGED 86 YEARS
LAYTON ROPER THEIR SON
DEPARTED THIS LIFE THE 6th OF APRIL 1781
AGED 60 YEARS
ELIZABETH ROPER
THEIR DAUGHTER WHO DEPARTED THIS
LIFE THE 1st SEPTEMBER 1804 AGED 79 YEARS
