As usual everything satisfactory.’11 And ‘Again
as usual, generally good.’12
For a fortnight in 1926 the school held a camp at
Camber to which 23 children went, and again in 1927 when 20
children went to Combe Martin in North Devon, among them Pop
Goodwin, son of the fore mentioned Mr Fred Goodwin.13
Although the Log Book and Minutes of the
Managers’ Meetings report the life of the school in some
detail, and the latter becomes more orderly, possibly with the
introduction of agendas for their meetings, a rather amusing
entry will occasionally be inserted as for example in 1932:
‘permission was requested that one of the girls could be away

school to attend Guide Camp. The
Managers did not give permission, but stated that they would
take no action should the girl absent herself for the
occasion!’14
In 1933 there was some discussion about converting
the school ‘offices’ to the flushing system, but this was
left in abeyance.15 (In fact they were not converted
until some time after the present headmistress,16
Mrs Muller was appointed. The plans were discussed on several
occasions
