THIS INDENTURE of two parts made this twenty seventh day of July in the fifty first year or the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eleven BETWEEN JAMES LANCE of Ash next Ridley in the County of Kent Gentleman of the first part and THE REVEREND THOMAS BOWDLER Rector of the Parishes of Ash and Ridley in the said County JAMES WADE of Ash aforesaid Gentleman JOHN WADE of Gravesend in the said County Gentleman WILLIAM HODSALL of Ash aforesaid gentleman CHARLES WHITEHEAD of Ash aforesaid Gentleman and JOHN ROGERS of Ash aforesaid Farmer (Trustees respectively nominated and appointed by the said James Lance for taking and receiving a grant of the Messuages or Tenements Annuity or yearly rent or other Hereditaments herein after mentioned) of the second part 

WHEREAS the said James Lance is desirous to found and establish in the said Parish of Ash Two Messuages or Alms Houses for the use and benefit of four aged of infirm widows being poor sober and orderly Parishioners or inhabitants of the said Parish of Ash and members of the Church of England to be elected as herein after is expressed AND WHEREAS the said James Lance for the purpose of carrying into execution his said intention has lately erected or caused to be erected or built upon the plot or piece of ground herein after mentioned two Messuages or Alms Houses which together with the gardens and other appurtenances thereunto belonging are intended to be hereby conveyed and vested in the said parties of the second part in . . . (this word has become illegible) Fee simple in joint tenancy upon the trusts herein after expressed AND WHEREAS the said James Lance is likewise minded and desirous to grant an annuity or yearly rent charge of Ten pounds and Ten shillings unto
