Abstract of will from Chelsfield proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury Geoffrey Copus.2005

Robert Allen of Chelsfield dated 15 January 1643

Abstract of the will of Robert Allen of Chelsfield yeoman dated 15 January 1643.
   I wish to be buried among the faithful people in the parish church of Chelsfield as near my pew as may be.
   I give my house, edifice and lands to my 3 sons William, Christopher and Thomas as I have here divided and allotted among them.
   I give to my son Thomas Allen my house, barn, outhouse, orchard and all Kitchin Crofte containing two acres and a half.
   I give to my son Christopher Allen my 3 pieces of land called Mare Crofts.
   I give to my son William Allen my pieces of land called Stonyfield and Cattlen Deane.
   Concerning my daughters – I give to my daughter Ann the wife of John Robinson £5 to be paid to her by my son Thomas within 2 years of my death, but if she is dead by then it is to be paid to her son Isaac Robinson.
   I give to my daughter Margaret the wife of Cornelius Cocklehurst £5 to be paid to her by my son Christopher Allen half a year after my death.
   I give to my daughter Alice Allen £5 to be paid to her by my son William Allen three years after my death.
   All the rest of my goods and chattels I give to my beloved wife Anne Allen whom I appoint my Executrix, provided that if she shall marry again she shall pay to my 3 sons and to my daughter Alice £10 to be divided equally among them.
   I give to my grandson Isaac Robinson two ewes.
   I desire my loving neighbour William Chapman to be the Overseer of this my will and I give to him for his pains 2s.
   Robert X Allen witnesses George Smith William Chapman William X Allen Christopher X Allen Thomas X Allen.
   Proved 13 January 1651 to Ann Allen the relict.   [PCC will PROB11/220]
