Abstract of the will of Richard Bounter, late parson
of Chelsfield, dated 17 March 1493.
I bequeath my soul to Almighty God, to our Lady Saint Mary
and to all the holy company of heaven, and my body to be buried in the
body of the Church of Chelsfield before the crucifix there or else in
any other place or Church to lie before the crucifix where I fortune to
die. I bequeath to the high altar 6s.8d.
I give to Sir John Bounter a violet gown furred with "fichowes"
and a pair of beads of jet and white amber.
I give to John Bonanter my brother a salt of silver and a
cover, with a pair of great white amber beads.
I give to Margaret Wespynton 12s.3d. or else the value
thereof. To Dame Tomysen Percyvale my best pair of sheets. To Joan
Mordin a violet gown in "grayne furred with menyver."
To Margery Dynham my best long towel of diaper work. To
John Getour a basin of "warkis" with a lavour. To my cousin
Agnes Getour a thick pan of latten. To Margaret Jetour 20s. or else the
value thereof, to help my sister Alice in her business.
I bequeath the residue after payment of my debts to my
sister Alice, part to pay for my burial, the rest for her to pray for my
soul. I appoint Sir John Percivale Kt. as Overseer of my will.

John Alexander and others.
Proved 24 January 1499 by John Dynham and Alice sister of the deceased.
The said Alice renouncing, administration was granted to the said John
Dynham of the City of London, gentleman.
