        1744
        Abstract of the will of Thomas Chapman of Chelsfield
        yeoman dated 11 April 1744.
           My body to be decently and frugally buried in the Parish
        Church Yard of Chelsfield.
           I give all those my messuages, lands, woods, tenements and
        hereditaments in the parishes of Chelsfield and Ash, Kent, together with
        all other my real estate in possession and reversion to my son William
        Chapman and his heirs, subject to the charge hereafter mentioned.
           I give to my dear wife Alice for life an annuity of £20
        per annum in satisfaction of all claims she might have on my real estate
        by virtue of the Custom of Kent or otherwise. I charge this annuity on
        all my lands etc. to be paid half-yearly by my son William.
           I give to my daughter Ann Bigg £20.
           I leave all residue of my personal estate to my son
        William, out of which he is to pay the legacies etc. and I make him my
        Executor.
           Thomas Chapman witnesses Thos: Norton Hen: Nurse Jeremiah
        Ringer, servant with Mr. Norton.
        Proved 28 July 1758 by William Chapman the son.
