1843
Abstract of the will of Sarah Cordery [widow] of
Chelsfield dated 16 May 1843.
My debts and funeral and testamentary expenses to be paid.
I give to my sisters Mary Brooks and Elizabeth Coleborn the
wife of Thomas Coleborn £10 each.
I give to Albert Coleborn and Herbert Coleborn the sons of
my sister Elizabeth Coleborn £30 each.
I give to George Morgan, son of my brother Richard Morgan,
£5 to provide him in clothes and not to be given him in money but to
remain in the trust or keeping of my sister Elizabeth Coleborn.
I give to six other children of my brother Richard Morgan,
viz Mary, Thomas, Jane, William, James and John Morgan £10 to be
divided equally among them.
The above legacies shall be paid out of the sum of £135
now in the hands of Mr. John Kemp residing at Berries farm at Cudham for
which sum I have a bill payable on demand and bearing interest at 5%
which interest remains unpaid from August 1841.
My watch I leave to Herbert Coleborn, son of Elizabeth
Coleborn.
I give to my sisters Mary Brooks and Elizabeth Coleborn all
of my wearing apparel furniture and other household effects,
I appoint the aforesaid Thomas Coleborn of Chelsfield my
sole Executor and request him to accept £5 for his trouble. If there is
not enough money available to pay the legacies then each should be
adjusted proportionately.
Signed Sarah Cordery Witnesses J.E. Tarleton Rector,
Chelsfield: Henry R. French, Carpenter, Chelsfield.
Codicil dated 15 June 1843.
Whereas it appears from the will of my late father Thomas
Morgan that I am to receive at the decease of my mother Mary Morgan a
freehold cottage situate at a place called Holly Bush in Chelsfield and
the principle sum of £230
I give the freehold cottage to my sister Mary Brooks.
I give to my sister Elizabeth Coleborn the principal sum of £100 and
after all testamentary and other expenses are paid I give the residue to
my brothers William, Thomas, Richard and George Morgan to be equally
divided among them.
