James
Jackson of Chelsfield dated 3
November 1825
Abstract of the will of James Jackson of Chelsfield
farmer dated 3 November 1825.
Whereas I and my brother Thomas Jackson have for many years
past carried on and managed the farming business on two several farms at
Chelsfield, the one held by Lease and the other as tenant at will, and
the Lease and the stock and crops on the said farms the cattle and
implements in husbandry used thereon are the joint property of me and my
said brother Now I give and bequeath as follows:
I give to my son Richard Jackson and my son in law William
Isard of Bromley, Kent tallow-chandler, all my freehold messuage or
tenement now divided into three cottages or dwellings called Washners in
Brasted, which I bought of Francis Haynes, Miller, now in the occupation
of Thomas Chapman, [blank] Poplett and [blank] Cornwall, to hold on
Trust to dispose of the premises and to apply the proceeds for the
benefit of all my children. A valuation is to be taken of the farms and
farming stock mentioned above to ascertain the value of my part.
I give all my personal estate and effects to the said
Richard Jackson and William Isard on trust to sell all my stock and all
other personal effects firstly to pay my debts. As I have already
advanced to my two daughters Mary the wife of Thomas Isard and Alice the
wife of the said William Isard £300 each as their marriage portions,
and to my son Richard Jackson also £300, my Executors are therefore to
pay to each of my four other children namely John, William, Elizabeth
and Sarah Jackson £300 each to make them equal with the others.
The residue arising from the sale is to be divided into
seven equal parts and one share is to be given to each of my seven
children. I appoint my son Richard and the said William Isard to be my
Executors and Trustees.
James X Jackson Witnesses, Edwd. Latter Solr. Bromley
