        Abstract of the will of George Pratt of Chelsfield
        dated 14 February 1649.
           My body to be buried in Chelsfield churchyard among my
        predecessors.
           I leave to my son James Pratt all my lands and tenements in
        Chelsfield
           I leave to my wife Elizabeth £5 a year for life, to be
        paid by my son James Pratt.
           To my two grandchildren George and James Pratt £20 apiece
        at age 21, to be paid by my son James Pratt, and they are to be each
        other’s heirs if either should die under age.
           If both die under 21 then the said £40 is to be paid to
        Joane Pratt my grand-daughter.
           To Joane Masters of Farnborough two bushels of wheat the
        Michaelmas after my death.
           To every one of my Godchildren 12d.
           To my wife the bed I sleep on and all that belongs to it,
        two pairs of sheets and the pieces of new flaxen cloth and the lambswool
        and locks that is in the house, a chamber to dwell in and a joined
        chest. After her death, I give the chest to my grandchild James Pratt.
           To my three grandchildren two lambs apiece next Michaelmas
        come 12 month.
           All residue to my son James Pratt, and he to be Executor.
           If my wife do not like to dwell with my son she shall not
        carry out of the house any of the aforesaid moveables given her.
           I appoint my brother in law Thomas Know and Richard Small
        of Chelsfield to be Overseers and to have 5s. each.

           Memorandum: I give to my wife for her use during her
        dwelling with my son the little brass kettle and one iron pot with one
        drink vessel.
           My Executor is to be bestow in a dinner at my burial 10
        stone of beef, 2 of my best wethers, a barrel of beer, and bread
        proportionable.
           To the poor of Chelsfield to be distributed at the day of
        my burial 10s.
