Abstract of will from Chelsfield proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury Geoffrey Copus.2005

William Brooks Wood of Chelsfield dated 8 July 1846

Abstract of the will of William Brooks Wood of Well Hill in Chelsfield labourer dated 8 July 1846.
   I leave all such personal and real estate to which I may be entitled at my death to such uses as my wife shall by deed or will appoint, and in default of such appointment, to the use of my wife absolutely, but as to estates vested in me upon trust or by way of mortgage subject to the equities affecting the same.
   I appoint Jesse Richardson of Carshalton, Surrey, Executor.
   In witness of this will I have directed William Purvis of Croydon, Surrey to sign my name at the foot of this will.
   Signed by William Purvis by the direction of the Testator William Brooks Wood witnesses Alice Brooks Edward Brooks both of Chelsfield.
   In the goods of William Brooks Wood Appeared personally William Purvis of Croydon gentleman and and referring to the last will and testament hereunto annexed of William Brooks Wood late of Well Hill in the parish of Chelsfield dated 8 July 1846 made oath that on the said day in the presence and by the direction of the said deceased signed his names William Brooks Wood at the foot of the will, and the said deceased acknowledged the signature and those of the two witnesses, who signed their names at the same time in the presence of the testator and of each other.
   On 3 August 1846 William Purvis was sworn as to the truth of this statement [witnesses’ names illegible in microfilm]
Proved 5 August 1846 by Jesse Richardson the Executor named.       [PCC will PROB11/2041]
