Milton Wills (next Sittingbourne).— I. Ade to Cot by Arthur Hussey

JOHN CHILDE, Bricklayer.
   3 November 1554. Buried in the churchyard. Son Henry when 26 my house, my wife Katherine having oversight of the same. Margaret my daughter £5 at her marriage or age of 21. If the child my wife goeth with live, at her marriage 40/-. Residue after debts paid to wife Katherine my Ex’or, with Thomas Lake overseer. Witnesses :—Dom William Painter, Thomas Lake.

RICHARD CHILTON.
   20 July 1478. Buried in the churchyard. High altar for tithes 3-4d, parish-priest 20d, parish-clerk 4d, the sacrist 12d. Wilmine Cornyll at her marriage 40/-. Residue to wife Alice to pay my debts etc, and with Richard King my Ex’ors. Wife have for life my messuage in the market place, then sold and money to John son of Peter Richeman 40/-, John eldest son of Richard Martin 3.4d, to Iwade church 20/-, a priest 66-8d for our souls, my wife, parents for half a year. If John son of Peter Richeman die before of lawful age, then Alice sister of John have 40/—. Residue to work (opus) of Middilton church. Anicia [=Agnes]

daughter of John Michell of Key Street have in fee simple the rent which William Chapman is wont yearly to pay for one barn in the market-place next my messuage east.

ALEXANDER CHITTENDEN.
   31 March 1546. If my wife now with child, a son and he lives to 21, then have £5; if a girl £6-13-4d equally among my three daughters (no names) at their marriage. Ex’or :—Wife Margery. Witnesses :—John Storey1 vicar [1545.51], John Thornton.

THOMAS CLENCHE, of Chalkwell.
   18 June 1495. Buried in the churchyard. To the mother church of Holy Trinity Canterbury 4d. High altar of Middelton 6-8d, to the "fabrice et operibus" of the church 20/-. Light of St. Mary a cow. A secular priest celebrate for a year for my soul, parents, £6-13-4d. Residue after paying debts to wife
   1 Bishop of Rochester, 1551-4.
