Holborough: A Retrospect by R. F. Jessup, F.S.A.

generally recognized to be the burial places of well-to-do Romanized Britons or of wealthy merchants from Belgic Gaul who participated in the intensive commercial development of south-eastern Britain during the first half of 
the second century. If such a man were buried at Holborough, his house can scarcely be other than that villa we have mentioned.
