This sherd was found by Kevin Cox ( https://www.instagram.com/kevin.c.thamesmudlark/)
in London on the Thames foreshore. He has very kindly allowed me to use
his pictures to illustrate this example of an uncommon form from Roman
Britain. Jo Mills, a samian specialist, has viewed the
photographs of this sherd and has offered the following comments.
Form Dr 16 differs from the forms Dr 15/17 and Dr 17 in a
couple of significant ways. Dr 16 lacks much of the grooving common on
the outside wall of those vessels. Dr 16 has the internal quarter round
moulding which the Dr 17 doesn't. The external wall is
slightly curved in a S-shape
