Ditch E VP 19. Light brown loam, mostly chalk lumps,     fill of flat U shaped Ditch E.    In the face of service trench just west of corner    of road. No. of sherds 21, weight ?? gm Ditch G VP46. Dark brown loam, chalk lumps, fill of    Ditch G in west face of excavation of area for    Block 9. No. of sherds 134, weight 2,558 gm Ditch J VP50. Brown clay and chalk lumps, fill of Ditch    J to north of Block 9 in service trenches.    No. of sherds 71, weight 914 gm VP52. Brown clay and chalk lumps, fill of Ditch    J cut by service trench to the south of Block 9.    No further finds were found in this feature.

Pit H VP51. Black loam, upper fill of bee-hive shaped    pit (H) to east of Block 9, cut by service trench.    No. of sherds 287, weight 7,963 gm VP53. Brown loam, many chalk specks and    lumps. Pit H below VP51.    No. of sherds 55, weight 1,502 gm VP54. Black ash and burnt clay/daub, below    VP53. Pit H.    No. of sherds 7, weight 94 gm VP55. Brown clay and light chalk rubble, below     VP54. No. of sherds 19, weight 296 gm
