Minutes of the 1st Parish Council Meeting. December 4th 1894.

The first Parish meeting under the Parish Council Act was held in the Schoolroom on Tuesday, December 4th 1894 at 7 pm.

It was proposed by Mr H Glover and seconded by Mr W Russell the Rev C.J. Lambarde be the Chairman of the Meeting.
   Carried unanimously 7.15 pm.

The Chairman asked for nomination papers. They were numbered as handed in, 24 in all. When arranged in alphabetical
   order they were found to be as follows: -

  3   Mr John Hollands
  4   Mr Cecil J G Hulkes
  5   Mr Frederick King
  6   Mr S Gurney Rumsey
  7   Mr Richard Rogers
  8   Mr William Russell
  9   Mr Jacob Smith
10   Mr Valentine Willard

The nomination papers being accepted as valid by the Chairman, the names of the candidates were read out in alphabetical order and an opportunity was given for any parochial elector to put any questions to the candidates.

The Chairman asked if any candidates wished to withdraw as there were too many by 3; one only withdrew Mr J Hollands whose paper was cancelled.

The names of the other 9 candidates were put to the meeting in alphabetical order of their surnames and votes by show of hands in favour only were taken.

They were as follows: -
